The Utilitarian Board

We don’t normally make cutting boards. Bent Studio is known for handcrafted furniture and cabinetry — but when we have enough high-end offcuts and scraps left from our furniture projects, we batch them together into something special.

Made for the everyday chef at home, the Utilitarian Board was born out of necessity. My wife, a trained chef, needed a cutting board she could actually use every single day—something tough enough to handle hours of prep, easy on her knives, simple to clean, and double-sided for maximum life. Looks weren’t the goal, but the boards turned out gorgeous anyway.

Each board is crafted in our Glendale shop from solid wood offcuts left over from larger projects. Nothing goes to waste—so every board is unique, sustainable, and built to last a lifetime. The woods vary, the grains vary, the colors vary, but the quality never wavers.

This is not a decorative board to hang on your wall. It’s made to be used, day in and day out—season it with our blend of beeswax and mineral oil, and it will serve you for years to come.
